On 3 October, 2021 two positive community cases of Covid-19 were confirmed – one in Raglan and one in Hamilton East. As a result areas in Waikato moved to Alert Level 3 from tonight at 11.59pm.
At Level 3 hospitality businesses must close their doors to the public but can operate for contactless pick-up and delivery orders.
Key information:
- The move to Level 3 is from 11.59pm 3 October, 2021.
- The areas affected by the move to Level 3 include Raglan, Te Kauwhata, Huntly, Ngaruawahia and Hamilton City. Find out the Alert Level for your region here.
- The Waikato Alert Level will be reviewed in 5 days (from 3 October, 2021).

- Auckland remains at Alert Level 3 and the rest of New Zealand at Alert Level 2 – these levels will be reviewed on Monday 4 October, 2021.
The two cases are known contacts of each other, however potential links with both cases to the current Auckland outbreak are still being worked through.
