NZ Pass Verifier App Now Available

The NZ Pass Verifier is a free Ministry of Health app for businesses to scan and verify customers’ My Vaccine Pass and is now available for download on both Apple and Android devices

When the COVID-19 Protection Framework is in place, some businesses will be required to check customers’ My Vaccine Pass with the NZ Pass Verifier app in certain traffic light settings. You can find more information on that here.

What does the pass tell me, as a business?

Scanning a pass doesn’t tell you whether a person is fully vaccinated or not – just if they meet the vaccination requirements. A person can either be fully vaccinated or medically exempt (a very small number of New Zealanders will be exempt). This maintains the privacy of those who medically cannot be vaccinated.

Do customers have to show their pass? What if they refuse?

Customers wanting to enter a business that is requiring the My Vaccine Pass are obligated to provide their My Vaccine Pass to be scanned, when asked. If refused, you can refuse service, or possibly offer them a contactless service.
