Description


We are looking for a Head Chef, Chef or Fry Cook with experience in a commercial Kitchen, with working knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen hygiene, to join our Team. We are a busy Restaurant housed within the Vibrant Gisborne Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club with >5000 Members. Must be able to lead the Team in the absence of the Head Chef (Chef position only). Fry Cook will be under the direction of the Head Chef or Chef on Duty. Qualifications / Experience will be considered in determining the hourly rate.

Head Chef Duties include, but are not limited to;
• Cooking menu recipes / specials / function food
• Updating Recipe / Menu Costing and Electronic Menu Boards
• Updating Training Records and Food Control Plan compliance
• Leading the Team in a positive manner to obtain the best from, and for, our People
• Coordinating kitchen staff tasks
• Implementing hygiene policies and examining equipment for cleanliness
• Training and managing all kitchen staff, such as cooks and food preparation kitchen Staff
Chef Duties include, but are not limited to;
• Cooking menu recipes / specials / function food

Fry Cook Duties include, but are not limited to;
• Deep Frying food eg Fish, Fries and Finger Food
• Fryer cleaning, Fat draining and filtering
• Maintaining food safety and quality standards
• Keep all Kitchen work surfaces clean and sanitised
• Keep food in supply storage organised

Hours of work: Full-time 30hrs+ negotiable, (typically ~40hrs) roster will be set in good faith, meeting the needs of all Chefs, but will require a combination of day / night, Weekends and Public holidays. Part-time positions may be negotiated to suit all parties but preference is for Full-time. Our preference is a 4 days on, 3 days off roster offering a good Work:Life balance as well as offering continuity of fixed hours and weekly pay.
